Tonight, I did it. I finally sat down and watched an entire episode of The Office. Congrats, flist! Your love and adoration for this show has rubbed off on me. Granted, I've only seen one episode - I meant to watch both episodes that were on tonight, but I got confused as to the times - but I think I loved it. The roomie and I laughed hysterically throughout the entire episode. Or at least, I laughed hysterically. [profile] enigmaticblues laughed, but I'm not sure if she would classify it as 'hysterically' or not. ;-) Anyway, not only did I laugh, but I could definitely see glimmers of character storylines that are sure to pull me in if I let them. Of course, I'm going into it biased towards loving it. I know my flist, and I know that you guys like good TV. So, I definitely want to watch more. Next Thursday, here I come!

(FYI for those who care, the episode I watched was The Injury.)

In other news, things at work have been looking up lately. Because I have an obsession with bulleted lists, I will now use one to discuss some of the stuff that's been going on this week:

Work Stuff - Cut For A Bit Of Length )

Other than that, only one week to vacation! Six days with my parents and four with [profile] shannigansx. I'm so excited!!!
My weekend in a nutshell (or rather, a bulleted list):

+ Friday evening I went out to dinner with the roomie ([profile] enigmaticblues) at our favorite Mexican restaurant in town, La Paz. We are there pretty much weekly at this point. Sometimes we miss a week, but that's rare. I'm expecting them to soon know our names and exactly what we want to order when we walk in the door. Chicken flautas for [profile] enigmaticblues and the burrito royal for me. Yum!

+ When I got home, I was excited to find my S2 Farscape DVDs in the mail. So excited that I hugged the box from Amazon immediately upon pulling it out of the mailbox. So you can bet the rest of the evening was spent watching Farscape. *sigh* Love.

+ Saturday I got my hair highlighted. I'm still not sure I like the particular color of blond that is now my hair. But I don't really hate it either. *shrugs* Saturday afternoon I applied for student loan consolidation and cleaned my apartment. Saturday evening I took a nap and then watched more Farscape.

+ Sunday I did the usual Powerpoint duty at church. Then I washed my car inside and out. (Random side note: Cleaning makes me feel accomplished.) Sunday afternoon I took another nap and watched more Farscape - sensing a pattern here? Sunday evening I went for ice cream at Cold Stone. Again with the yum! Oatmeal cookie batter ice cream with chocolate chips mixed in.

+ Sunday night I talked to [profile] _lashingoutloud on the phone for two and a half hours. I did not intend for the call to be that long. But really, the time just flew by without us even knowing it. It was so much fun! It's awesome to pretty much immediately be comfortable with someone on the phone...when you've never talked to them in person before. I've had a similar experience with [profile] shannigansx. So I've been incredibly lucky that way. And blessed to have such wonderful LJ friends, who sometimes cross over into RL friends.

So that was my weekend. I've been pretty busy at work lately, and it's been wonderful. But tomorrow afternoon I fly to Dallas for the rest of the week for training. It's strange to realize how traveling used to be second nature to me. I traveled about 90% of the time with my old job. Now, I haven't traveled at all for work in the six months I've been at my new job. So this trip to Dallas is really freaking me out. Very strange.

Anyway, I should have everything I'm currently working on finished up before I leave tomorrow, so who knows if there will be anything for me to do when I get back to work on Monday. But, when I do get back, I only have two weeks of work before I go on vacation to visit my parents and meet [profile] shannigansx. And one of those days is the 4th of July, so only nine working days! *squee*

OK, I'm pretty much rambling on about nothing at this point in the post, so I'll wrap it up. I'm taking my laptop with me so you may see me around the next few days. (I have to pay for internet access at the hotel, but I'm addicted enough, I'm sure I will!) Regardless, I'll be back on Friday evening. Have a good week, all!

Oh, and look at the cute turtle icon make by [personal profile] pasadora! I saw it and had to have it as my nickname is Turtle, and I have a small collection of them out on my balcony (not real ones). So cute!
My shiny new laptop came in the mail on Thursday. And it really is shiny. It's silver, and it's beautiful, and it's all mine. It has a name too. I have a weird need to name the inanimate objects that I own. Anyway, thanks to [profile] enigmaticblues' suggestion the computer is named JavaJunkie. I call her Java for short. For those of you GG lovers on my flist, I think you'll understand how fitting I think this name is...since she will spend many hours in search of JavaJunkie love.

I also survived my first week of work at FZA. And it went relatively smoothly. I have yet to regret my decision, and I hope it stays that way. I did have to work yesterday, as Saturdays at the office are kind of expected of everyone during the months of January to April. But since we were all there together, it was kind of fun, so I didn't mind it too much. Then I hit up my favorite Omaha mall after work because it's just down the road from the office. Let's just say I spent money on shoes at DSW and work clothes at Ann Taylor Loft like I think I'm rich. Shame on me. But I did find the best pants in the whole entire world there. Not only are they soft and super comfortable, but they make me look thin. So can you blame me for buying two pair?

Cut for the 14-year-old girlishness )

Sadly, the weekend is almost over now, and I'm sad to see it go. Back to work, work, work tomorrow.

So today I almost had a nervous breakdown at work. I had a serious battle with the tears.

I love my job. I love my job. I love my job...

Luckily, there were just enough good things that happened in this day (both work and non-work related) to salvage it from being the worst day ever. Thank God for that!

I've been feeling all domestic this evening. I made my first pumpkin roll of the season. Sadly, it didn't turn out all that well. In a stupid yet somewhat impressive move, I managed to get the spatula stuck in the beaters of the blender when I was making the cream cheese filling for the pumpkin roll. The beaters got terribly bent up, and thus the frosting didn't get mixed quite as well as it should have. Luckily, it still tastes yuuuuuuuuuuummy! And my roomie managed to bend the beaters back into shape with some pliers. Then, the pumpkin roll cracked a bit when I was rolling it back up, so it doesn't look very pretty. Once again, luckily looks has nothing to do with taste.

I like baking, and this was the first time in months that I've actually done it, so it was fun. I also made a jello salad for tomorrow's big dinner. The favorite Banta family recipe is homemade chicken and noodles (we eat them on top of mashed potatoes). It's usually a dish that we eat at holidays. Well, I've raved about chicken and noodles so much to several of my friends that they demanded I make it for them last year. And once they ate the chicken and noodles last year, they told me that I would be making it every year. Thus tomorrow marks the second annual chicken noodle dinner prepared by yours truly. So that's what I'll be doing all day tomorrow. Making the noodles from scratch, cooking the chicken, and cleaning the apartment in preparation for people coming over tomorrow night for dinner. It's a lot to do, but I've got to say that I really enjoy making this dinner for everyone. It reminds me that I actually can cook, and it gives me a great sense of accomplishment. Now here's hoping the noodles actually turn out. They're a bit touchy, and I've got to make a lot.

In other news, I received a bit of good news at work today. I won't bore you with the details, but I will say that it took a little bit of the load off me. I'm not kidding myself that things aren't going to suck over the next several months, but this might reduce the amount of suckage a wee little bit. And at this point, every little bit counts for my sanity.

Oh, and I just watched the 6x08 AOL clip for the upcoming Gilmore Girls episode. I think it's going to be a good one. I can't wait!!

And wow, I can stuff a lot of random crap into a post...

I knew that work was bugging me. What I didn't realize was just how crappy it was making me feel about myself and life in general until I started crying about it, and then just couldn't stop.

If I'm looking on the brightside, at least I feel a lot better now...even if it's only temporary.
