So my mom called me yesterday and informed me that she would be sending me an insured package in the mail today. She wouldn't tell me what it was. Only that it was a gift my dad had received and didn't know what to do with. So they decided to send it to me, and she was sure I would love it. Well, she called me again today to tell me that she'd sent it, and that it's an I-Pod. Wait, what?!!

All I can say is, sweet!! I'll take a free I-Pod. *does happy dance*

In other news, I am so sleepy today I can hardly concentrate on anything. I should take a nap, but that would break the illusion that I'm trying to keep up for myself - the illusion that I'm actually trying to do some work from home. However, the majority of the work I planned on doing today (and all this week for that matter) needs to be done in a program called Vector (a.k.a., the bane of my existence). Well, just as I'm about to open up Vector this morning, I get an all-office e-mail from one of our managers stating something to the effect of: "Vector is down for the count. Don't even bother calling the help desk. I'm supposed to get an e-mail when it's back up, and I'll pass along the message to everyone." So, there went my ability to get much of anything done today and pretty much all motivation I had to work. Glad to see Vector is still up to its ever-crappy ways. I have yet to get an e-mail informing me that it's working once again.

And on a completely random note, I have officially managed to get one of my coworkers addicted to the Gilmore Girls. She e-mailed me today begging for my Season 3 DVD's. And yet another one bites the dust. This makes me very happy. :-)

Alright, I'm off to pretend to do some more work. Or maybe give up completely and take a nap.

PS - [profile] shannigansx, I stole the title of this entry from something you said in one of your posts last night. Hope you don't mind - 'cause it's kind of too late if you do. ;-)

Contains spoilers for tonight's episode.

Slippin' Em Bread Dig )
Here are my thoughts on tonight's GG. Sorry if they're spazzy. But I wrote them while watching, and then gave them a little once over for coherence's sake.

Gilmore Girls Episode 6x9 )

I really, really need to get some work done tonight, but I have pretty much no motivation after that episode. Gah! I'm such a slacker. And I realized that I've now missed the first 30 minutes of Commander in Chief because I haven't been paying attention. I've been prepping this post instead. Good thing I'm taping it (or rather my roomie is since I'm not actually home) for a coworker.

As promised, my GG fic is behind the cut. Please read! And leave feedback. I'm a feedback whore.

The Significance of Color )

Now I'm off to watch Gilmore Girls. YAY!

Wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow. I thought I loved last week's Gilmore Girls episode. I would now like to amend that to say, I liked last week's episode, and I loved this week's episode! And because I like neat and orderly things, here are my comments in bullet form:

Cut because I do babble on. )

Well, I think I've babbled enough, despite the fact that I could comment on a million more things. I also loved Commander in Chief tonight. That show gets better every week!!
I've been feeling all domestic this evening. I made my first pumpkin roll of the season. Sadly, it didn't turn out all that well. In a stupid yet somewhat impressive move, I managed to get the spatula stuck in the beaters of the blender when I was making the cream cheese filling for the pumpkin roll. The beaters got terribly bent up, and thus the frosting didn't get mixed quite as well as it should have. Luckily, it still tastes yuuuuuuuuuuummy! And my roomie managed to bend the beaters back into shape with some pliers. Then, the pumpkin roll cracked a bit when I was rolling it back up, so it doesn't look very pretty. Once again, luckily looks has nothing to do with taste.

I like baking, and this was the first time in months that I've actually done it, so it was fun. I also made a jello salad for tomorrow's big dinner. The favorite Banta family recipe is homemade chicken and noodles (we eat them on top of mashed potatoes). It's usually a dish that we eat at holidays. Well, I've raved about chicken and noodles so much to several of my friends that they demanded I make it for them last year. And once they ate the chicken and noodles last year, they told me that I would be making it every year. Thus tomorrow marks the second annual chicken noodle dinner prepared by yours truly. So that's what I'll be doing all day tomorrow. Making the noodles from scratch, cooking the chicken, and cleaning the apartment in preparation for people coming over tomorrow night for dinner. It's a lot to do, but I've got to say that I really enjoy making this dinner for everyone. It reminds me that I actually can cook, and it gives me a great sense of accomplishment. Now here's hoping the noodles actually turn out. They're a bit touchy, and I've got to make a lot.

In other news, I received a bit of good news at work today. I won't bore you with the details, but I will say that it took a little bit of the load off me. I'm not kidding myself that things aren't going to suck over the next several months, but this might reduce the amount of suckage a wee little bit. And at this point, every little bit counts for my sanity.

Oh, and I just watched the 6x08 AOL clip for the upcoming Gilmore Girls episode. I think it's going to be a good one. I can't wait!!

And wow, I can stuff a lot of random crap into a post...
Despite the fact that I'm all torn-up and confused about the future of this show and that I didn't really care for this episode the first time through, I rewatched it. And I liked it quite a bit better the second time around. So here are my comments:

I typed these up while watching, so forgive me if they're incoherent. Once again, they're long, so I'll put them behind a cut.

Always a Godmother, Never a God )

Every once in a while, there's a Gilmore Girls episode that really depresses me. And this episode was one of them. Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate it at all. And I'm glad we're finally moving the Lorelai/Rory story along. But it made me sad, which I suppose means it met its purpose. Oh, and I missed Luke. I knew there was no way he'd always be in it as much as he was the first three episodes of the season, but still, I missed him a lot.

Well, it's a day later and here are my thoughts. They're long (and I do mean loooooonnnngggg), so I'll put them behind a cut.

Thoughts on Tuesday Night's Gilmore Girls )

For those of you on my f-list who believe there is life outside of GG, I promise that I will soon post something about the reality of my life and not this other world to which I escape. But alas, that's for another time. Trust me, you'd rather hear about my thoughts on GG.
