Tonight, I did it. I finally sat down and watched an entire episode of The Office. Congrats, flist! Your love and adoration for this show has rubbed off on me. Granted, I've only seen one episode - I meant to watch both episodes that were on tonight, but I got confused as to the times - but I think I loved it. The roomie and I laughed hysterically throughout the entire episode. Or at least, I laughed hysterically.
enigmaticblues laughed, but I'm not sure if she would classify it as 'hysterically' or not. ;-) Anyway, not only did I laugh, but I could definitely see glimmers of character storylines that are sure to pull me in if I let them. Of course, I'm going into it biased towards loving it. I know my flist, and I know that you guys like good TV. So, I definitely want to watch more. Next Thursday, here I come!
(FYI for those who care, the episode I watched was The Injury.)
In other news, things at work have been looking up lately. Because I have an obsession with bulleted lists, I will now use one to discuss some of the stuff that's been going on this week:
*While at training, we were given a homework assignment. This assignment consisted of picking the most technical footnote in the client financial statements we had brought with us and writing a memo, as if to the client, about the accounting issue discussed in that footnote. We had to explain the issue in layman's terms, as well as tell the client how it affects their financial statements and business operations. As I'm pretty sure most of you don't read accounting standards for fun, let me just tell you that like any law, they are boring to read and often very difficult to decipher. Anyway, I wrote the memo and e-mailed it to my instructor. I was so terrified to get her comments because she is uber-intelligent and she intimidates me alot. Plus, I was convinced that the memo was horrific. So imagine my shock when I received a response from her which said the following: "Outstanding memo. You understand the issues better than most partners." Let's just say, that was a wonderful self-esteem booster for the week. Especially since I'd written about a rather complex issue.
*On Monday my schedule, which has been empty for two months now, filled up through the end of September with one project. Sure, it's a project that consists of 23 small audits, but still, it's ONE big project. Myself and one other guy in the office are pretty much in charge of it, and we have two people working under us. So it's a bit of a big deal. I want to make sure to do a really good job and prove my worth with this one. It's been pretty funny, actually. We're in two teams for the project. Kurt, Carl and Debbie are one team and Shari, Lindsay and I are the other. My team has 12 audits to do, and the other team has 11. I was sharing this with Debbie, and she shouted, "You're on!" She's turned the whole thing into a big competition. We're working on team names, hand gestures, and theme songs. Debbie even suggested shirts. We won't go that far, but it's a good morale booster to turn it into a bit of a competition. From what I hear, these particular audits can get pretty mundane otherwise.
*Remember the annual evaluations that I was freaking out about a few weeks ago? I'm beginning to think I'm not being evaluated this year. Maybe because I haven't actually worked there for a year? I need to actually ask around to find out what's going on. But everyone else on the audit staff had their evaluations this week. They all received an e-mail to schedule times and it specifically listed their names. So I know it's not simply a case that they forget me. If they're not evaluating me, it's intentional. I'm not really sure what to think about this. I've been dreading the evaluation, but I'd still like to have it. I want to know how people think I'm doing and what I can improve on. Plus, if I don't get an evaluation, I'm guessing I also don't get a raise. Boo.
Other than that, only one week to vacation! Six days with my parents and four with
shannigansx. I'm so excited!!!

Wahoo on the outstanding memo! That is awesome!
Hee! I think you all do need t-shirts. That would be hilarious. But hand gestures and theme songs sound like a good time. It's nice to have such fun co-workers!
I hope you find out about what's going on with the evaluation soon. Even though they are scary, sometimes it is good to be evaluated so you know what other people think.
Yay! Squee! Eee!!! It's coming soon!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!
Haha...I was actually talking to Debbie last night at the going-away party, and she really wants to do shirts. So we'll probably have them. This could be fun!
Less than two weeks!!! I can't believe it!!!1

Hurrah for The Office! I watched "The Christmas Party," and "The Injury" is waiting for me at home on my TiVo. It's such a fun show, and
Congratulations on the good feedback! That's great!
Heh, if LJ includes video--as they're promising to do in the near future--will you film your team's hand gestures and post them for us?

Wow. I just looked at my last posting date. I had no idea it'd been a week since I last posted. I've been here all week...just lurking about. I'm glad to know people miss me. *tear*
Also, I should really enter the age of the TiVo. It would prevent me from missing so many of the things that I do miss. The VCR is no good at recording if you forget to set a timer. Or you don't know what time something is on.
And HA! Well, if we ever settle upon a hand gesture - everyone has been busy, so no one's talked about it in a couple days - and LJ does indeed get video, I'll post them. Hee!

That guy is so good at making Dwight come alive. I could never be an actor, so I respect people who can do that, who just go for and look as foolish as possible.
