Hello flist! I'm just checking in from Dallas again. Things here are going really well!
Training started at 8 am this morning and ran until 5. Suprisingly, I didn't even begin to have focusing problems or feel at all tired until about 3:30. The rest of the day went by really quickly. Our instructor is incredibly knowledgable and very intense, so she's good at keeping us involved. Plus, we're learning about a lot of new auditing standards that will go into effect next year, and I have the responsibility to take notes on what she's saying and give a presentation to the office when I get back. Add to that the fact that I'm still new to the firm and alot of the methodologies and forms we're talking about at this training, and I'm paying close attention. And, if all that audit talk right there didn't put you to sleep, I'm impressed...
Also, our class is about 25 people and everyone is so nice. Granted, we're only here for another day and a half, but I've made some connections already. So that's fun. Hopefully I'll run into a lot of these people at training again next year. Anyway, I had fun getting to know people today. There's even another girl here from a small town in Nebraska, and we have the same flight back to Omaha on Friday. I'm glad I'll have someone else to race to the airport with on Friday. We've only got two hours and 20 minutes between when class ends and our flight leaves - plus a 17 mile drive to the airport.
Tonight we went to Bennihana (a Japanese steakhouse) for dinner. I had filet mignon. Yum-my! I was also very pleased to realize after dinner that there was an equal number of people coming back to the hotel as there was going out. I was so afraid I'd be one of the only ones who didn't want to go out until all hours of the morning, and I didn't want to seem antisocial. So, yay for that!
There you have my day in a nutshell. Tomorrow night we have homework. Ick! I am not looking forward to that. Bye for now!
