Hello flist! I'm just checking in from Dallas again. Things here are going really well!

Training started at 8 am this morning and ran until 5. Suprisingly, I didn't even begin to have focusing problems or feel at all tired until about 3:30. The rest of the day went by really quickly. Our instructor is incredibly knowledgable and very intense, so she's good at keeping us involved. Plus, we're learning about a lot of new auditing standards that will go into effect next year, and I have the responsibility to take notes on what she's saying and give a presentation to the office when I get back. Add to that the fact that I'm still new to the firm and alot of the methodologies and forms we're talking about at this training, and I'm paying close attention. And, if all that audit talk right there didn't put you to sleep, I'm impressed...

Also, our class is about 25 people and everyone is so nice. Granted, we're only here for another day and a half, but I've made some connections already. So that's fun. Hopefully I'll run into a lot of these people at training again next year. Anyway, I had fun getting to know people today. There's even another girl here from a small town in Nebraska, and we have the same flight back to Omaha on Friday. I'm glad I'll have someone else to race to the airport with on Friday. We've only got two hours and 20 minutes between when class ends and our flight leaves - plus a 17 mile drive to the airport.

Tonight we went to Bennihana (a Japanese steakhouse) for dinner. I had filet mignon. Yum-my! I was also very pleased to realize after dinner that there was an equal number of people coming back to the hotel as there was going out. I was so afraid I'd be one of the only ones who didn't want to go out until all hours of the morning, and I didn't want to seem antisocial. So, yay for that!

There you have my day in a nutshell. Tomorrow night we have homework. Ick! I am not looking forward to that. Bye for now!

I'm glad that training is going so well for you! And yay for not being bored!!

Wow. That really isn't much time at all.

I know. I'm really nervous about missing the flight. But the next one didn't leave until 9 pm, so I didn't want to be sitting around for that long. Class is done at 2:30. Hopefully we'll get out a bit early.

Maybe. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. And in any case, at least you won't be alone anymore!

Yay! I'm glad things are going well and that you're enjoying the heavenly bed, and that you're not the only one going back to the hotel at night. :) There's something kind of nice about going back after a long day and having the heavenly bed and the TV all to yourself. Enjoy!

I hope you make your flight on time.

And: Mmmmm, Benihana.

Dearest Heather,

I got my new laptop today.

It's cute.

I like reading your Dallas tales. I'm glad you've made connections already. You're easy to like, so that's one of the reasons. Sexy!

20 minutes between class ending and flight leaving?! AHH. You can do it! You'll have a pal with you! I'm excited to hear that, at least. Homework?! Yuck! YUCK!

Love you! We need to talk again soon. Baby!

Okay, I missed yesterday, but I'm wondering if you've had a chance to see any Dallas-y things? Or maybe you don't have time?

I was only there for about three days, and most of that time was spent in class. So not many Dallas-y things. We were also staying in a suburb of Dallas, quite far from downtown.

I did go out to dinner on Thursday night at a restaurant called the Blue Mesa Grill. It was Mexican and very good! And, my parents lived in Dallas for a few years, and I spent a couple summers there. So, I technically have seen Dallas-y things already.

Reading about a Japanese steakhouse is making me very jealous! I haven't had a decent steak since we left the States. And I believe I also read about going to Cold Stone Creamery in a different journal. I would LOVE some Chipotle followed by oatmeal cookie batter ice cream w/ choc chips (that is my fav too).

Glad to hear training went well.

Tell J hi for me. Miss you both!
