Ground Rules: The first player of this "game" starts with the topic "5 weird habits of yourself" and people who get tagged need to write a lj entry about their 5 quirky habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and list their names.
1. When it comes to getting ready in the morning, I hate just standing in front of the mirror. I loathe it, hence I don't. Typically when brushing my teeth I'm walking around my apartment doing various things. And when it comes to drying my hair (which takes a bit because it's shoulder-length), I usually sit in my room in front of my laptop and read fanfic or catch up on LJ while using the blow-dryer. And putting on makeup? I typically do that in my bedroom while watching TV or something. Apparently, just standing in front of a mirror to do these things gives me too much time to think, and thinking is really something I like to avoid if at all possible.
2. I like to watch TV with captions. I think it all started when I was once watching TV while blow-drying my hair (see weird habit #1). I needed the captions on in order to figure out what was being said. And I discovered that I tend to catch things I would otherwise miss when I have the captions on. So when watching TV by myself, I often turn on the captions. Of course, then it's embarassing when I forget I have the captions on and someone else comes in to watch TV with me. Then my true freakishness is revealed to them.
3. I don't ever trust that I've set things right the first time(such as my alarm clock or a timer on my VCR). So I end up checking the time I've set on my alarm clock or the time/channel info on my VCR timer at least three times before I can go to bed or leave the apartment.
4. When it's even slightly chilly in my room, I like to have heat blowing directly on me (even when it's not winter). So I will turn on my space heater and lay right next to it (which yes, I know, you're not supposed to do because it's dangerous and all that jazz). Well, after awhile of having the heater on, the room will of course get hot. But when I turn the heater off, I then miss the feel of the heat blowing on me. So I end up turning on a fan to get some cool air circulating while running the heater. But this is a horrible drain on electricity. So now that I have a roomie who shares the electric bill, I've resisted the urge to give into this habit. But when I lived in the dorms and couldn't have a space heater (or now when I'm staying in a hotel), I'll sometimes run my blow dryer to keep warm. Again, very bad, I know. Not to mention, freaky weird. But hey, this meme is all about strange habits.
5. I have an obsessive need to rewatch things. I will tape my favorite shows even if I'm watching them as they are airing. And then I will rewatch them at least once, but often more times than that, during the week as I wait for a new episode to come on the next week. And if it's hiatus time, you can bet I'll pull out those tapes and watch them again. I'm always amazed at what I'll catch on a second or third viewing that I didn't catch the first time or two. Plus, pulling out an old episode that I haven't watched for awhile can be so much fun because I'll have an entirely different take on the episode. *sigh* I love TV.

And yes, VCR timers must be checked obsessively because I will cry if I do not get one of my favorite shows taped. And umm, anyone who does not tape GG and rewatch is simply crazy!! ;-)
