My coworkers and I noticed that about ten police cars and a couple of ambulances have driven by on the expressway right outside our window (sirens blaring). Naturally, we started to wonder what's going on. So I get on omaha.com to discover that Westroads Mall, which is just a few blocks from here, is on lockdown because someone fired shots in the Von Maur around 1:45 pm.
HOLY CRAP! I hope everyone is okay.
ETA: Nine dead, and five more injured. Apparently, the shooter decided to commit suicide and "go out in style." So sad. So, so sad. I was going to go there over lunch yesterday to finish Christmas shopping, but I'm glad I didn't. I'd still like to go there before the week is out, but I don't know. It's just freaky.
