Well, I have made it safely to Dallas. And as you can see, I lasted all of about an hour after checking into the hotel before I paid $9.95 for 24 hours' worth of internet access. $9.95 for one day?! That's a fifth of what I pay at home for an entire month. Ridiculous! And what's even more ridiculous is the fact that I'm willing to pay for it.

Traveling today went off without a hitch. And yet, I still found it to be miserable. I hate flying! Actually, I don't hate flying. What I hate is traveling for business. And even more than just traveling for business, I hate traveling by myself. At least, today I did. I went to the airport in my work clothes and high heels. I usually have no problem walking around in high heels. Today it was a dumb idea. So much so that when I got to Dallas and got my bags, I found the nearest ladies room and dug through my bag until I found casual clothes and flip flops to change into. I was also hauling around my laptop - if only I wasn't so addicted, I should have just left it at home - and two really heavy audit files that I supposedly need for my training this week. My body aches all over from carrying those things. Not to mention my large duffel bag full of clothes that I checked. I think what I hate most about traveling is having about 5,000 things I'm trying to keep track of and cram here and there. And just hoping that throughout the checking in, going through security, finding my gate, and boarding I don't lose it all.

The flight went fine, but we had a bit of turbulence in the middle of it. The worst turbulence I've ever experienced on a plane. It made me queasy. I also had a middle seat, but I was in an exit row, so I had lots of leg room. I was also sitting between two very nice older business men. We had some nice conversations and swapped travel stories. Both had much better tales than me. Then I had to fetch myself a 17-mile ride to the hotel. Luckily, I found a shuttle pretty easily that only cost me $20. Once I checked into the hotel (it's pretty fancy - it's a Westin), I went and ate some dinner at pub in the lobby. Ridiculously expensive! I paid $20 for four rather small, rather so-so quesadillas and a Diet Pepsi.

Now I'm laying on the heavenly bed in my hotel room - it's so comfy! It's actually called "The Heavenly Bed". This bed will probably be the highlight of this trip. Hee! Tomorrow morning at 8 am begins three days of class for me. Hopefully I can figure out where I'm going as no one seems to have much info for me. Hmmm...

Oh, the one good thing about traveling today? I spent a good portion of my time reading. I haven't read a book in so long, it was quite enjoyable. I'm currently reading The Kiterunner. I'm not sure yet what to think about it. I like it, but it's not something I can't put down. I'll let you know what I think when I finish.
