*waves hi*
Well, other than a few comments I've left on people's journals, I've pretty much been MIA from livejournal for about a week. So I thought I'd update everyone on my uber-exciting life. ;-)
~Other than a huge family blow-up on Christmas Eve at my grandpa's house that involved a drunk cousin and my crazy aunt who is sure that her daughter who has been taken away from her and put in foster care was "kidnapped", Christmas with my family was good. I was sure that my parents, brother, grandma and I in one tiny townhouse for six days would lead us to driving one another crazy. But it didn't. I think we all really enjoyed one another as adults for those six days. We really came to appreciate each other as a family, I think. So it was good.
~One highly amusing aspect of Christmas to me was the fact that my parents (who shy away from all things sci-fi/fantasy and anything labelled as a "children's story") decided they wanted to see the Chronicles of Narnia. My grandma even went with us. And they all loved it. I couldn't believe it, but I think it's great that they enjoyed it. Even funnier was the fact that my brother spent four days watching S1 of Veronica Mars, which I received as a Christmas gift. After about 10 episodes, he said, "This show is too good." Which of course made me incredibly proud. And my dad and mom even watched bits of it with us. Before they left, my dad made me tell him who killed Lily, and my mom wanted to know if Veronica and Duncan were in fact brother and sister. As I said, I found the whole thing incredibly amusing.
~I went crazy with the money spending today. Shame on me. But now I have really funky, pretty new pillows for my couch. And a really cool new picture hanging up on my bedroom wall. Not to mention a new 2006 Paris calendar, a 2006 Van Gogh day planner, and a couple of new sweaters that I can wear to work.
~Speaking of work, I miraculously get an extra week of vacation next week. This is nearly unheard of as next week is the first official week of busy season (minimum 55 hour work weeks). Of course, I plan on working from home most of next week trying to catch up on all sorts of stuff I'm really behind on. But still, the fact that I can sleep in and work on my own time is a happy, happy thing.
~I have a new TV love: Nip/Tuck. I can't believe I'm actually watching this show as I've had strong feelings against it ever since it premiered. It really can be rather disturbing at times, but it's so incredibly fascinating, so real, and so good that I just can't stop watching it.
I think that's about it. I'm sure it's more than you wanted to know anyway. Here's wishing everyone a Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoy your respective celebrations tomorrow night, no matter how quiet or boisterous they may be.

Yay Paris calendar! I've got one as well. I can't wait to use it!
Nip/Tuck is awesome. I swore that I wouldn't watch it, but I did, and I got hooked. Christian/Sean!! OTP!!! And I see that you're watching Sophia Lopez. I love Sophia.

Yes, I'm very excited about the Paris calendar. I thought about going with something different this year, but a lot of the pictures were very cool and completely different than any I'd seen before. So I went with the old standard. Plus, it will give me pictures that I can potentially frame and hang up in the future.
I, too, love Sophia. Really, really love her.
And oh, the Keith/Veronica icon. I must now use the one you made me. *sigh* I fell even more in love with Keith/Veronica while rewatching S1. They are the best father/daughter duo on TV. And I even think I'm in love with Keith Mars.

I'm glad my holidays went mostly well, too. Sounds like you got all sorts of prezzies! Yay! Of course, Christmas with my family would not be Christmas without my mother's crazy family acting up. So, really, the big blow-up was bound to happen.
